The whole town was coloured Purple in preparation for the huge fiesta.
Also some amazing images were created on the streets, & it was only later I found out these were created by chopping up different colours plants & flowers for the colours. That was some work as soem images were 10m x 20m - Wow!
Like Semana Santa at Easter, the alter is taken for a walk round town by 50 people at a time, as this one weighed in at just over 3 tons.
Local dignataries also get involved like the Mayor, the leaders of the many local churches too
When they arrived at the local Fire Star=tion there was a huge ceremony, with all the sires blazing, a band, & local dancing by the firemens children which was stunning.
Then it was a short walk to the church in the plaza, where a crowd of several thousand had gathered to welcome them back.
