Every two years a unique street race is held in a sleepy town in the middle of the New Forest.
The roads are closed, hay bales are set up on the corners & chicanes, & teams from all over the UK & France descent for the event of the summer - The Ringwood UK Pedal Car Grand Prix.
In the next year the competition moves across the channel to another sleepy village but in France.
There are vans stuffed full of spares, caravans for the team, and the cars themselves are everything from school projects to the top cars which sport Carbon Fibre & Titanium to shave a few seconds a lap off.
The race is 4 hours round the village, which is pretty tough going in the heat, and spills & tumbles do happen on the way.
There is a pits area too where the cars can be hammered back into to shape before being pushed off for more punishment.
I was amazed by the speed of all the cars - this was not some village fete - this was serious stuff!
