The power of Kindness

We all mean to be kind. How many of us actually are? How many of us leave and breath it, treating kindness almost as a religion. It is particularly pertinent to travelling because when we feel free, when we are travelling in someone else's land it is easier to be mentally, less fettered by the stresses and strains and accompanying inwardness of day to day society. One can look and project outwards more, indeed there are a whole swath of bohemian type 'travellers' that claim to do this very thing. In my experience, all be it not inexhaustable, it is not these so called new age hippies that have really clocked what kindness and purity is, rather it is those that have not ever been lucky enough to decide what path to take in life. The small penniless family that lives in the peruvian desert for example, that when a stranger darkens their door puts another plate on the table. Not by way of good manners, not because it makes them feel good, but because that is what they do. It is not so much a case of kindness - one understand kindness perhaps when one has had the privelige of an educaiton to understand the intricacies of being good! For many people in the world, helping others survive whoever they are, is simply something that they do. Imagine a world where everybody did that without expecting anything in return? the result would be impossibly difficult to quantify.....something that positive has never been known! what do you think?
