What started out as a terrified dash from the dayjob has turned into a determined plod towards a career doing the adventurous stuff. I blame the longboard that dropped into my lap in 2005. A year later I pushed into Lands End to become the first bloke to skate the length of Britain. Blistered feet looked like...erm...mushroom soup, but that was just a warm-up. A few months later I skated into Brisbane, a Guinness World Record and an incredible five month journey from Perth in hand. In December 2009 I paddled my kayak through the mouth of Australia's largest river, the Murray, to conclude a 2476km journey from the river's source. This was the second journey of an ongoing project called Expedition1000, in which I'll attempt 25 journeys of 1000+ miles, each using a different method of non-motorised transport.
